Milan is ready for a new season full of events. Don't miss it!
MITO Settembre Musica 2017 – 11th Edition
Showcasing the passion and talent of hundreds of great musicians – to the tune of 140 concerts in 19 days – the MITO festival is an acoustic cornucopia spanning two cities with many repeat performances taking place both in Milan’s piazza Duomo and Turin’s piazza San Carlo. These include the wildly successful sing-along events know as Open Singing where audiences are invited to sing together with the musicians, and the Italian Youth Orchestra’s performances of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony on 9 September in Milan and 10 September in Turin.
For the second consecutive year, the festival will continue with its theme-based format. This edition will be dedicated to the theme of ‘Nature’, thus highlighting the fact that our ecosystem is not only made up of earth, water and sky – all things we can see – but also contains a sound element, the space in which we ‘hear’. By supporting music, we contribute to the variety, harmony and balance of this listening space, thus favouring its biodiversity.
Music for Children
Weekend performances, featuring ad hoc shows and performances are dedicated to children aged 2 and up. These include the Dutch production of Cellostorm, which tells the story of a lonely pigeon in search of friends (9 and 10 September); Play (16 and 17 September), dedicated to childhood, and Orfeo (16 and 17 September), a musical fable based on Monteverdi’s masterpiece celebrating the 450th anniversary of the birth of the composer.
